Sheva M. Sims is the owner of Sims Law Firm. Her primary practice is in the areas of personal injury, civil and criminal law, and domestic litigation. She has supported her community in various aspects for numerous years. Ms. Sims is the president of the board of directors for the YWCA of Northwest Louisiana, a haven for women and children who are victims of abuse and assault. When the organization was floundering financially, Ms. Sims stepped up to lead efforts to save the chapter by raising awareness and funds; those efforts allowed the YWCA to keep its doors open and to continue aiding the battered women of the region who sought shelter there.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Sims was a high school mathematics teacher; she now tutors in mathematics and she has been a frequent speaker on a myriad of issues surrounding education. Through the Evergreen Baptist Church, Ms. Sims set up a living will clinic for senior citizens in her community and provided dozens of wills on a pro bono basis. She also is the minister of music at her church and a single mother of two daughters.

"There is no end to Attorney Sims' generosity or her humility," said Julia H. Brooks, grandmother to two of the children whom Ms. Sims tutors. "She quietly goes about the business of doing good-making sure that the downtrodden have a voice, that the homeless have a meal, and that the wayward child has a direction. Despite the demands of her profession and her life, Attorney Sims finds the time to give back to the community through sharing her time, her talents, and her charitable spirit."
