The Access to Justice Committee encourages you to learn more about the Louisiana laws that affect you. With this understanding you may be able to resolve some of your own legal problems. You can find answers to your legal questions on a separate website, www.lawhelp.org/LA, which Access to Justice helps support. On www.lawhelp.org/LA you can also find free legal and social services, locate courts, and help yourself with on-line applications and forms. We have also posted some of our own legal education materials here. We do not intend this information to be legal advice.
Louisiana Legal Services Program Guidelines
To be eligible for free legal help from Louisiana Legal Services organizations
Your case must be a civil matter. No Criminal cases are accepted.
You must meet certain income and financial guidelines. Some legal services organizations are able to make exceptions. You should contact your local legal services for specific information.
Your case must be non-fee-generating. If the case is one that a local attorney could make money from, legal service organizations cannot accept it unless two (2) local attorneys refuse to take the case and you are otherwise eligible.
