Cheri Cotogno Grodsky Cheri oversees the Association’s professional programs, including Practice Assistance and Continuing Legal Education. She also works with the Client Assistance Foundation and the Committee on the Profession. She is responsible for the development, implementation and operation of the Practice Assistance and Improvement Program, whereby complaints of minor attorney misconduct or mismanagement are diverted from the disciplinary process in order to educate the lawyer, prevent future misconduct and obtain prompt resolution of client complaints. Cheri works with the CLE Program Committee and has financial oversight for the Association’s CLE seminars. Cheri joined the staff in 1998 after working for 15 years with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel.

William N. King Bill works closely with the associate executive director for professional programs in the administration of the Practice Assistance and Improvement Program and other professional programs of the Association. He is responsible for the administration of the LSBA Opinion Service. Bill joined the staff in 2000 after working for seven years as deputy disciplinary counsel with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel.

Richard P. Lemmler, Jr. Richard works closely with the Rules of Professional Conduct Committee regarding lawyer advertising and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of lawyer advertising filed with the LSBA. Richard also assists with the Ethics Advisory Service. Richard joined the staff in 2002, after practicing law in New Orleans for 14 years as a solo general practitioner. Before joining the staff, he also served as an appointed, volunteer lawyer-member (then chair) of a hearing committee for the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board.

Eric Barefield Eric works with the Ethics Advisory Service to provide confidential, informal, non-binding advice and advisory opinions to eligible members of the Bar to assist them in resolving ethical dilemmas that arise in their practices and is responsible for the administration of the Ethics Advisory Service. Eric also assists with lawyer advertising filed with the LSBA. He joined the staff as practice assistance counsel in 2005, after working with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel for seven years. He was initially responsible for the implementation of the LSBA Law Office Management Assistance Program. He also worked as an assistant district attorney for three years with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office.

Shawn L. Holahan Shawn is a member of the Professional Programs Department as Practice Management Counsel. She is responsible for the administration of the Law Office Management Assistance Program, which supplies LSBA members with information and resources in the core areas of marketing, management, technology and finance so that its members can manage their practices more effectively. In addition to administrating the LSBA’s Solo and Small Firm Conference, she is responsible for the administration of the LSBA Fee Dispute Resolution Program. She also works with the Legislation Committee and assists with other professional programs of the association. Shawn joined the staff in March 2010, after having been a litigator in New Orleans for more than 20 years.

Annette C. Buras Annette works with the associate executive director for professional programs and CLE Program Committee to plan and implement approximately 25 seminars each year. She handles site selection, coordination of promotional materials and communications with committee members and speakers. She also handles processing of registrations for Bar-sponsored CLE seminars and works on site at Bar-sponsored seminars.
