“Lawyers in Libraries” Events Successful Statewide!

On the Oct. 23 “Lawyers in Libraries” Day of Service, Louisiana pro bono attorneys provided much-needed legal assistance to the public via local libraries in every parish in the state. “Lawyers in Libraries” is part of an ongoing collaboration between the LSBA’s Access to Justice Department and the Louisiana Library Association, which aims to directly connect the public with counsel and make people aware of the resources and options that may be available to them. At a time when legal aid resources are perpetually exhausted, the partnership between attorneys and public libraries is both timely and greatly impactful. Project partners are hopeful that events can be scheduled on a regular basis, and attorneys are encouraged to volunteer by emailing nicole.louque@lsba.org.
