LSBA Institute of Inclusion Roundtable Discussion -- "The Awful D-Word"

The LSBA Institute of Inclusion partnered with Carver, Darden, Koretzky, Tessier, Finn, Blossman & Areaux, LLC to host for about 10 attorneys a Roundtable Discussion on "The Awful D-Word" on SEPTEMBER 18, 2012, from 12 noon - 1:00 p.m., at the Entergy Center Building.

This session examined the meaning of Diversity. Participants will define and discuss the word "Diversity" to understand its negative connotations in an effort to: (1) reclaim the word diversity; (2) understand the true meaning of diversity; and (3) discuss why valuing diversity is important; and (4) highlight how embracing diversity and what it stands for can positively impact the practice of law. Why are corporate legal departments demanding that their outside counsel provide them with diverse representation? Through interactive exercises, participants will obtain a basic understanding of diversity and inclusion principles and then examine those principles in the context of why diversity and inclusion is critical to the legal profession. For more information on future discussions, please contact Kelly McNeil Legier (kelly.legier@lsba.org; 504-619-0129) at the Louisiana State Bar Association.
