Young Lawyers Division - Law School Competitions

Law School Mock Trial Competition

The 2013 Law School Mock Trial Competition was held at Orleans Parish Civil District Court on March 27, 2013. Congratulations LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center as winners of the 2013 competition! The LSU team consisted of students Michael Heier, Donna Lee, Arthur Bernard Mitchell IV and Reshonda Thompson.

Loyola University College of Law placed second in the mock trial competition. The Loyola team consisted of students Eric Cusimano, Javier Jalice, Holly McGinness and Joe Ward.

Law School Essay Contest

Each year, law school students throughout Louisiana write essays on a topic provided by the chair of the Law School Essay Contest Committee.

Essays are due in the spring of each year. The first place winner will receive $1,000 from the Louisiana State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Council, plus the publication of the winning essay (bylined) in the official journal for the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Bar Journal. One runner-up will also have his/her name and essay published in the Louisiana Bar Journal.
