Children's Law Committee
The mission of the Children's Law Committee is to provide a forum through which attorneys and judges working with children can promote improvements and changes in the legal system which benefit children, parents and the professionals who serve these families.
The Committee was established in 2008 in response to a request from members of the Louisiana Legislative Task Force on Representation in Child Protection Cases. The commitee is now a "standing committee" of the LSBA, composed of judges, court representatives, legal aid attorneys, private practitioners, Department of Children and Family Services attorneys, and other children's advocates.
This year's Committee Co-Chairs are Hon. Kathleen Richey Ret. from Louisiana CASA and Kellie Johnson from Louisiana's Mental Health Advocacy Service.
