MINORITIES IN THE PROFESSION -- THE ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION CLE WELL ATTENDED AND WELL RECEIVED!
The LSBA presented its first free Minorities in the Profession Roundtable Discussion CLE on January 26, 2010, at the Louisiana Bar Center. Approximately 32 attorneys participated in the "Empowering the Minority Solo/Small Practice Attorney" discussion, which featured Moderator Richard Goins and Panelists Carl Butler, Janika Polk, and Edward Shamis. The speakers shared their experiences and advice to provide a road map for participants interested in starting or improving efficient and competitive solo and small firm practices. Over 50 African American female attorneys participated in the "Exit Interview: The Retention of African American Female Lawyers" discussion. That discussion, which featured Hattie Broussard, Sandra Diggs-Miller, Dana Douglas, Hon. Paulette Irons, Hon. Rose Ledet, explored situations and realities that serve as an obstacle for African American females in the legal profession. Reports summarizing the discussions are being prepared. Networking receptions followed the discussions.
