INAUGURAL MINI DIVERSITY CONCLAVE IN MONROE A SUCCESS!
The LSBA partnered with the Fourth Judicial District Bar Association and the Northeast Louisiana Louis A. Martinet Legal Society to host a free Mini Diversity Conclave in Monroe for approximately 26 participants on September 28, 2010, at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Library Conference Center. After receiving welcoming remarks from Scott W. Lowery (President, Fourth Judicial District Bar Association) and George W. Britton, III (President, Northeast Louisiana Louis A. Martinet Legal Society), participants were captivated by a keynote address from LSBA President Michael A. Patterson during a networking lunch, which immediately preceded the program. Kelly McNeil Legier (Director, LSBA Member Outreach and Diversity) engaged participants in an interactive diversity workshop that emphasized the influence of each individual's cultural lens, defined diversity, examined its importance, and provided tools for avoiding stereotyping. Mr. Lowery then moderated an impressive panel that examined the importance and impact of diversity in the legal profession. Panelists included the following: Isidro Rene' DeRojas (Partner, McCranie, Sistrunk, Anzelmo, Hardy, McDaniel & Welch, LLC), Thomas M. Hayes III (Partner, Hayes, Harkey, Smith & Cascio, LLP), Hon. Daniel Milton Moore III (Judge, Second Circuit Court of Appeal), and Stephen T. Sylvester (Assistant District Attorney, District Attorney's Office for the Fourth Judicial District of Louisiana). The program was approved for 3.0 CLE hours. To view pictures from the event, CLICK HERE.
