LSBA Minority Involvement Section 21st Annual Minority Job fair and Diversity Networking Lunch a huge success!
The LSBA Minority Involvement Section hosted its 21st Annual Minority Job fair and Diversity Networking Lunch at Loyola University (main campus) on Friday, August 14, 2009. This Fair represented the largest and most diverse employer pool and the largest number of Fair sponsors. Twenty-six interviewing employers and about 25 information table employers met with nearly 100 highly qualified law students and recent graduates, primarily from area law schools. Another 26 employers collected resumes and will contact students individually when hiring needs arise.
The networking brunch was informative and beneficial. Veta Richardson, the executive director of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, gave a keynote address as well as a demonstration involving student participants that provided the audience practical advice on how to effectively enter and exit a conversation in a networking reception environment. United States Congressman Joseph Cao and New Orleans City Councilwoman Jackie Clarkson also said a few words.
Additionally, Job Fair Co-Chairs Luis Leitzelar and Sandra Diggs-Miller awarded student and employer participants several door prizes, including book scholarships, a Nintendo Wii, gift bags, gift cards, and flash drives.
The LSBA would like to thank its generous sponsors. They are listed in the Sponsor link below.
