LSBA Disaster Response

Justice Community Disaster Response
The Access to Justice Community activated its disaster relief plan as Gustav approached. This was a combined effort of the LSBA Access to Justice Committee, the Louisiana Bar Foundation, the Legal Services Corporations and pro bono providers across the state, the LSBA Young Lawyers Section, the Louisiana Civil Justice Center, Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, Equal Justice Works and the American Bar Association. The group continues to expand and we welcome the participation of all interested in helping to provide legal services for poor people affected by Hurricane Gustav, and now Hurricane Ike.

Working with the ABA/YLD Disaster Legal Services Liaison Franchesca Hamilton-Akers, the group has enacted several initiatives and is working to support and coordinate with others who are working for this same purpose.
