Tavares A. Walker is director and adjunct professor of law with the Office of Career Services at Southern
University Law Center. He received a BA degree in communications in 2005 from Louisiana State University and his JD degree in 2008 from Southern University Law Center. He was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 2008.
Tavares has served as a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s (LSBA) Bar Governance Committee and the LSBA Outreach Committee since 2015. He also was a member of the 2014-15 Leadership LSBA Class.
He chairs the Southern University System Employee Grievance Committee and is a member of the Louisiana National Guard Officers Association, the National Bar Association and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. As a member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association, he has served on the Mock Trial, Teen Court and Legal Institute Committees. He also is a scholarship donor for the LSU Summer Scholars Program.
