For the last nine years, the LSBA has convened a Conclave on Diversity in the Legal Profession. The LSBA chose to host a “conclave” rather than a “meeting” because a conclave signifies “an assembly or gathering, especially one that has special authority, power, or influence.

Full registration includes access to conference sessions, lunch, coffee breaks, and electronic course materials. Written course materials will be available for a $40 fee, and MUST be reserved in advance.

Registration is NOT confirmed until payment has been received by the LSBA. Electronic confirmation of your registration will be sent within ten business days of receipt of payment if registration is received by mail or fax (sent to the email address of record with the LSBA) or upon completion of payment process if registering online.
Program sessions are subject to limited attendance due to facility capacity constraints, so
please pre-register for your desired courses, this includes morning breakout sessions. The LSBA is not responsible for any expenses associated with travel, lodging, or other costs incurred by the registrant, including in the event that the LSBA must cancel the conference for any reason.
Audio or video recording or transcription of any portion of the seminar is prohibited unless express consent is granted by the LSBA.
Registration Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be received in writing and sent to
diversity@lsba.org; telephone cancellations
will not be accepted. Cancellations received in writing before
March 3, 2017 will be fully refunded minus a $30.00 administrative fee. If written confirmation of cancellation is not received by
March 3, 2017, no refunds or credits will be issued of any kind. Credits will be processed within two weeks of receipt of the cancellation request.
On-site Registration
On-site registration will be available, however, payment is possible
by check only. Credit card payments will not be accepted.

WiFi Access
Please note that wireless access will not be available in the conference area (on the third floor where the program will be held) and electrical outlets may be limited.
Free WiFi will only be available downstairs in the main lobby.
Parking
Parking is available at the Marriott on the day of the Conclave. Valet parking only, no self-parking option is available.
Please note that the Marriott parking lot does fill up, so parking is first-come, first-served. Conclave attendees will be given a voucher for discounted parking ($12.00) upon check-in at the Conclave registration table. This is valid for one-time valet parking. If you leave and return, you will have to pay the full valet cost upon your return.

Diversity and Inclusion Workshop Presenter:
Shawn C. Marsh, Ph.D., Director of Judicial Studies and an Associate Professor of Communication Studies and Social Psychology, University of Nevada, Reno. He is the former Chief Program Officer for Juvenile Law at the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges where he taught extensively on topics such as implicit bias and trauma-responsive justice, and oversaw myriad national projects focused on child welfare, juvenile justice, school engagement, and trauma/victimization. The goal – to identify ways to increase technique sound decision-making and fairness guided by science.”

You are urged to make reservations early, as there are only a limited number of rooms available at the discounted rate listed above. The LSBA room block is reserved for seminar attendees only.
Hotel Reservation/Cancellation Policy: In order to reserve a room, please call 504-581-1000 and request the “LSBA 2017 Diversity Conclave” group block rate. All reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card by Tuesday, February 17, 2017 and the credit card will be charged a deposit of one night’s room and tax when reservations are made. Any requests received after February 18, 2017 will be handled on a space and rate availability basis only. Please note that if your plans change and you do not timely cancel your room reservation by February 17, 2017, you are responsible for the room charge.

The Excellence in Diversity Jazz Brunch reception honoring signatories of the LSBA Statement of Diversity Principles will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017, at the Marriott New Orleans at 7:45 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. Speakers, sponsors, and Conclave registrants are encouraged to attend. Entertainment will be provided by JB Saax.
