Join the New Modest Means Online Legal Directory Today!

The directory bridges the gap between moderate income families who are looking for reduced fee assistance with attorneys offering affordable legal options in various practice areas.

In 2016 nearly 1.3 million Louisiana families fell between 200% - 400% of the Federal Poverty Line (FPL) and were considered of moderate income. Most moderate income families do not qualify for free legal aid, yet some can afford to pay for services at a reduced rate.

The Louisiana State Bar Association’s Access to Justice Commission’s Modest Means Online Legal Directory helps address the legal needs of low and moderate income households by listing the services of attorneys willing to meet these needs. The Directory is not a referral service, but rather an online listing of attorneys who offer reduced fee legal representation to people who fall at or below the 400% FPL. Many attorneys already offer reduced fees by way of a sliding scale based on the client’s income, flat fees, or limited scope representation subject to the requirements of Rule of Professional Conduct 1.2(c).
