Justice Reinvestment Reforms Practitioners' Guide Now Available To help criminal law attorneys stay up-to-date on the law changes this past legislative session, the Louisiana Department of Corrections created a Practitioners’ Guide.In 2017, the Louisiana Legislature recently passed an ambitious package of Justice Reinvestment laws to reduce the prison population by 10% and save $262 million over the next decade. The laws passed change sentencing guidelines for many non-violent crimes as well as the Habitual Offender Statute.
