“Come Together” with the LSBA and Register for Annual Meeting/Summer School!

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ arrival in the United States, the LSBA has adopted a Beatles theme for the combined 73rd LSBA Annual Meeting and LSBA/Louisiana Judicial College Joint Summer School, scheduled for Sunday through Friday, June 1-6, at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Fla. So, “Come Together” with the LSBA in the “Good Day Sunshine” of Destin for stellar CLE programming and loads of networking opportunities.

Is your mind still “Here, There and Everywhere” and you’re not sure if the event is for you? Do you need “Help” in deciding? “Do You Want to Know a Secret?” There are 10 good reasons why you should register today! You can “Think for Yourself.” Here goes…

1. Save Money. The registration price of $850 (for lawyers) is available through May 23. Save $45 over the on-site price. “Money (That’s What I Want).”

2. Save More Money. Judges and lawyers working in the legal services/government/academia areas get a bigger discount. Registration rates are just $725 by May 23. We try to “Help!”

3. CLE Hours. You have the opportunity to meet your annual CLE credit requirement in just 6 days! Learn about “Every Little Thing.”

4. And…Speaking of CLE. Hear civil rights icon Ruby Bridges discuss “The Civil Rights Act 50 Years Later: Life Then, Now and Tomorrow.” Later, former ABA President Robert J. Grey, Jr. will pick up the conversation with “Evolution of the Law: Where We Have Been, Where We Are, Where We Are Heading.” See how we are “Getting Better.”

5. More CLE. In a nod to the Beatles theme, Professor Michael Baur with Fordham University will discuss “The Beatles 50 Years Later: Pop Culture and Today’s Law.” Let’s “Get Back.”

6. Even More CLE. The other choices are endless…Unconscious Bias; The Art of Negotiation; The Future of Law School; Professionalism with Props; Ethics: A Disciplinary Sparring Match. It will make you “Glad All Over.”

7. Fun Stuff, Too. Yes, there are loads of business meetings during the day for the Board of Governors, House of Delegates, Divisions, Committees and Sections. But, once night falls and business is done, there are fun things to do...a First-Time Attendee Networking Reception, a Family Dinner Dance and a Beach Bash (of course, it won’t “Rain”), not to mention the whole Village at Baytowne Wharf. “Oh! Darling.”

8. The Golf Tournament is Back! Register for the event and pick your own foursome (or the LSBA will assist in setting up your team). Get a “Ticket to Ride.”

9. Party with Alumni. There’s a party for each of the 4 law schools. Pick your group and reminisce! “I Don't Want to Spoil the Party.”

10. Sandestin, Of Course! Did we mention this event is at the huge Sandestin resort property? Warm white-sand beaches, cool tropical breezes, loads of resort amenities for adults and children, the Village at Baytowne Wharf… Enough said! It is a “A Taste of Honey.”

All this and be with friends, mingle with the judges, attend the Supreme Court reception, have the chance to talk to our justices, all with your family, sun and the world’s best beaches. Just “Let It Be.”
