Great Opportunites for Young Lawyers at the LSBA Midyear Meeting

Young Lawyers Division Professional Development Seminar
The LSBA's popular YLD Professional Development Seminar is back! The CLE will be held on Friday, January 19, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel (7000 Bluebonnet Blvd.) in conjunction with the 2018 LSBA Midyear Meeting. Registration is only $30, and space is limited to the first 175 young lawyers who register. The registration fee includes electronic course materials, seminar attendance and a continental breakfast.

The Professional Development Seminar has applied for 4 hours of CLE credit, including one hour each of ethics, professionalism and law office management. Sessions will include "Tips and Technology to Maximize Productivity," "Mediation Ethics" and "Who is a Professional?" A panel of Access to Justice professionals will also describe how young lawyers can make an impact this year through pro bono opportunities available in their local communities. Each session has been specifically designed with young lawyers in mind. Click here to register or for more information.

Louisiana64 Symposium
The third annual Louisiana64 Symposium will be held on Friday, January 19, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel (7000 Bluebonnet Blvd.). The goal of the symposium is to strengthen communication, resources, and coordination among the young lawyers of Louisiana’s 64 parishes, while increasing access to LSBA and local affiliate initiatives that serve the public and the profession. The program will include a roundtable discussion of issues and opportunities for Louisiana’s young lawyers.

To ensure state-wide representation, one young lawyer representative from each parish will be selected to participate. YLD members traveling from outside the Baton Rouge area will be reimbursed for mileage to and from the Symposium at the IRS rate of .54/mile, up to $200 total. Louisiana64 attendees must be a YLD member (an LSBA member who has not reached the age of 39 years by June 2018 or who has been admitted to the practice of law for fewer than five years as of June 2018, whichever is later). The registration deadline for participating in the Louisiana64 Symposium is Friday, January 12. Those interested in participating can click here to register.
