Free CLE Marks the 125th Anniversary of “State V. Homer Plessy"


The “State V. Homer Plessy" re-enactment CLE will take place at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at the Louisiana Supreme Court.

The Plessy Foundation will sponsor this re-enactment of the oral arguments in the landmark case of State of Louisiana V. Homer Adolph Plessy in commemoration of the case’s 125th anniversary, which occurred at the Criminal District Court in 1892. The free event is co-sponsored by with the AP Tureaud Inns of Court, the Louisiana Supreme Court Historical Society, the New Orleans Bar Association, and the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Society. Hon. Kern A. Reese will serve as the narrator for the re-enactment, attorneys Greg P. DiLeo and Val P. Exnicios will play the parts of the respective lawyers, and Hon. Max N. Tobias, Jr. (ret.) will play the part of Judge John Howard Ferguson.

The free program has been approved for 1 hour of CLE credit. A reception at the Louisiana Supreme Court will follow the re-enactment and subsequent CLE discussion.
