Lawyers in Libraries
The motto of the Bar is “Serving the Public. Serving the Profession.” For the public, this ideal confirms our commitment to providing access to the legal system for all individuals, regardless of financial circumstance. For attorneys, the Bar aims to better connect the public with counsel, and facilitate a more efficient and just legal system. LEAP serves a proactive triage function, directing low-income individuals to available legal assistance, and educating those who can afford an attorney why and where they may find representation. Libraries are at the core of this effort and receive specialized resources and staff training to help patrons find the information they need.
