The symposium will focus on the Bicentennial of the Louisiana Supreme Court. The program will include tributes to four former Supreme Court Justices — Justice Francois-Xavier Martin, Justice Albert Tate, Justice James L. Dennis and Chief Justice Pascal F. Calogero, Jr. These four justices played essential roles in applying the doctrines and methodology of the civil law to produce the rich Louisiana legal tradition of today. Louis R. Koerner, Jr. will moderate the symposium. Following the event, a reception will be held featuring Louisiana musicians performing songs from the 20th century — in French and English.
