MCLE Reporting Requirements

The compliance requirement for attorneys admitted in 2023 can be met by choosing one of the three (3) methods below. 12.5 hours, including 8 combined hours of ethics, professionalism, or law office management, must be earned in the year of admission and the following calendar year. All credit hours must be earned by December 31, 2024, and reported to your transcript no later than January 31, 2025.

4 of the 12.5 hours may be earned online. The remaining 8.5 hours must be obtained in-person. Additional online hours will not carry over. It is highly recommended that attorneys take credits through courses already approved on the MCLE Calendar. Courses obtained through other venues may not qualify for LA CLE credit, regardless of the sponsoring organization.

Attorneys admitted in 2023 who have not practiced law in Louisiana and have not practiced Louisiana law in any other jurisdiction since their admission, may qualify for the exemption from the MCLE requirements in December of 2024, at which time the exemption application form will be made available online.
