Suit Up for the Future High School Legal Institute and Intern Program Application

Welcome to the Suit Up online application process!


Program structure:

Suit Up for the Future is a three-week legal institute, during which students attend an abridged law school session, tour law schools and courts, and particpate in an internship consisting of job shadowing at area law offices and courts.

Students are responsible for their own transportation to the Louisiana Bar Center as well as to employer job shadowing locations. They are also responsible for any housing needed during the time of the program. The program covers meals and transportation to and from the various tours.

Estimated Housing Costs:
If you are located outside of the Greater New Orleans area housing options are available at Loyola University New Orleans. To be eligible, students must be accompanied by a chaperone. The accommodations will be a room double at the Buddig Residence Hall. 
 
Week 1 (June 10 – 14) - $360
Week 2 (June 17 – 21) - $420
Week 3 (June 24 – 28) - $300
 
The estimated housing cost for three-weeks is $1,080 and approximately $60 per day.

Eligibility:
Students should have an interest in pursuing a legal career and should be entering the 11th or 12th Grade in the Fall of 2024 or entering their first year of college in the Fall of 2024. Students must commit to attend all three weeks of the program. Students that have applied previously and were not accepted are encouraged to apply again.
 
Selection Criteria:
All applications must be completed through this online application process. Each completed application must include:
  • a recent report card/progress report from the school the student is enrolled;
  • a letter of recommendation.
These documents must be submitted by the application deadline.

Once you begin the online application, you must complete it in full. You may not save it and return to it. If you are not prepared to complete all of the above parts right now, simply come back to this link when you are ready. Upon completing the application, you will be able to view and print the submitted information.

All fields marked with an asterisk (*) denotes that a response is mandatory to move forward with completion of the application. If you do not have a response for an area of the application, please indicate n/a (not applicable) and move on to the next field. 

In addition to completing basic information about yourself, your family and your school, you will also be requested to:
  • submit the name of the individual who will write a letter of recommendation for you in this online application; and
  • submit a 500-word (or less) essay.
