Young Lawyers Division

The purpose of the Young Lawyers Division is to foster discussions and interchange of ideas relative to the duties, responsibilities and problems of the younger members of the legal profession in the State of Louisiana; to aid in their advancement; to encourage their interest and participation in the activities of the Louisiana State Bar Association, and, in general, to further the purposes and objectives of the LSBA. This site is a public service of the LSBA-YLD Council, providing YLD information to the public, communicating with YLD members.

2015 Richard N. Ware, IV State High School Mock Trial Competition
The 2015 Mock Trial materials are available below, in preparation for the 2015 Richard N. Ware, IV State High School Mock Trial Competition. High school teams from across the state compete against each other in regional mock trial competitions, which are presided over by local Judges and judged by members of the local bar. The 2015 competition will be held in Lake Charles on March 28.


Volunteers Needed to Judge Tulane's Moot Court Competition
The Tulane Moot Court Board is in need of volunteers to serve as practitioner judges for the first rounds of the 2014-15 Intraschool Competition. These competitions will be held Oct. 21, 22, 28 and 29 at Tulane University Law School (6329 Freret St., New Orleans).
 
Seventy-six 2L and 3L students have signed up to participate. An essential part of this competition comes from the feedback provided by practitioners with real world experience. Volunteers are needed to serve as judges for the dates/times listed below. If you are available for only part of these timeslots, Tulane can likely accommodate your schedule. Interested volunteers can contact Caroline Bordelon at cbordel@tulane.edu or 985-249-1332.
 
Tuesday, October 21st:
•  Trial: 5:35-6:35pm; 6:35-7:35pm and 7:35-8:15pm
•  ADR (Negotiation): 6:00-7:30pm and 7:30-9:00pm
Wednesday, October 22nd:
•  Trial: 5:00-6:00pm; 6:00-7:00pm; 7:00-8:00pm; 8:00-9:00pm
•  Appellate: 5:00-6:10pm; 6:10-6:45pm
Tuesday, October 28th:
•  Trial: 5:00-6:00pm; 6:00-7:00pm; 7:00-8:00pm
•  ADR (Negotiation): 6:00-7:30pm; 7:30-9:00pm
Wednesday, October 29th:
•  Appellate: 5:00-5:35pm; 5:00-6:10pm; 6:10-7:30pm
•  ADR: 6:00-7:30pm
