Melanie Chatagnier is the sole attorney and owner of Chatagnier Law Office in Thibodaux. She handles domestic matters, adoptions and property partitions in Lafourche Parish. She received a BS degree in psychology in 1999 from Northeast Louisiana University (University of Louisiana-Monroe) and her JD and BCL degrees in 2004 from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center. She was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 2005.
Chatagnier is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Family Law Section and is a newly elected member of the LSBA Nominating Committee (District 2C).
She is a member of the Lafourche Parish Bar Association and a Lafourche district court-approved ad hoc counsel for contested custody and adoption suits.
In her community, she has been a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School PTC board since 2022. She is a sponsor of the Thibodaux Soccer Association and involved with other Thibodaux recreation activities.
She and her husband Jason have been married for 13 years and are the parents of three children.
