Young Lawyers Division


The purpose of the Young Lawyers Division is to foster discussions and interchange of ideas relative to the duties, responsibilities and problems of the younger members of the legal profession in the State of Louisiana; to aid in their advancement; to encourage their interest and participation in the activities of the Louisiana State Bar Association, and, in general, to further the purposes and objectives of the LSBA. This site is a public service of the LSBA-YLD Council, providing YLD information to the public, communicating with YLD members.

Level Up Learning Continues in 2026 with a Successful Trial Seminar Series — Stay Tuned for What’s Next!
The LSBA Young Lawyers Division kicked off its 2026 Level Up Learning series with a successful, trial-focused seminar. With strong participation both in person and via Zoom, the program provided practical skills and insights to help young lawyers sharpen their courtroom advocacy.
This marks the start of the 2026 trial series, stay tuned for what’s next as Level Up Learning continues with more opportunities to grow and connect.

The REEL Future of Law Takes Center Stage: 2026 Louisiana Young Lawyers Conference a Success

The LSBA Young Lawyers Division successfully hosted the 2026 Louisiana Young Lawyers Conference on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the New Orleans Marriott – Warehouse Arts District.
The event brought together young lawyers from across Louisiana for a dynamic day of CLE programming, meaningful networking opportunities, and a celebratory lunch featuring the YLD Awards Ceremony. Attendees engaged in insightful discussions, strengthened professional connections, and recognized the outstanding achievements of their peers. Overall, the conference was a great success, reflecting the continued commitment of the Young Lawyers Division to support, connect, and elevate the next generation of legal professionals.

 

 

2026 State High School Mock Trial Competition - Winners Announced


The LSBA Young Lawyers Division successfully hosted the 2026 Richard N. Ware IV State High School Mock Trial Competition on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana in Shreveport.
As the culmination of four regional competitions held across the state, the event showcased the exceptional talent, preparation, and professionalism of Louisiana high school students. Named in honor of the Honorable Richard N. Ware IV, the competition continues to reflect his legacy of dedication to legal education and mentorship.
 
Congratulations to this year’s outstanding participants:
•Winning Team: Jesuit High School 
•First Runner-Up: Caddo Magnet High School 
•Best Witness: Amara Nwabueze, Zachary High School 
•Best Attorney: Kristoffer Berg, Caddo Magnet High School 
 
The competition was made possible through the continued support of the Louisiana Bar Foundation via an IOLTA grant, helping to ensure the growth and success of this impactful program. Overall, the event was a tremendous success, highlighting the future of the legal profession and inspiring the next generation of advocates.
