The LSBA Young Lawyers Division recently partnered with the Louisiana Alliance for Nonprofits for the Barristers for Boards CLE, providing young lawyers with board governance training and insight into nonprofit board service. Young lawyers interested in getting involved with local nonprofit organizations will have another opportunity to connect at the Capacity Building Institute Breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 8:30–10 a.m. at The Executive Center in Baton Rouge. Sponsored by Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson, the event will offer an opportunity to meet nonprofit organizations and learn more about board service. Registration information will be available soon.

 

Join the LSBA Young Lawyers Division virtually on Thursday, December 3, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to Noon for its annual Professional Development Seminar—a valuable program created specifically for young lawyers seeking practical guidance, professional growth, and strategies to enhance their legal practice. The seminar is open to young lawyers only, for a cost of $50. The program will apply for 4 hours of CLE credit. Registration includes virtual webinar attendance and electronic course materials.

The launch of the Level Up Learning series was a success, with young lawyers joining experienced practitioners Jeffrey D. Hufft, William Ross O'Donoghue Dieters and Hon. Tony M. Clayton for “Let's Make a Deal: The Art of Criminal Case Negotiation” on Oct. 1, 2026.

Participants gained practical insights into negotiation strategies, case resolution techniques and effective advocacy skills that can be applied in their daily practice.

Save the Date! The next Level Up Program is "Let's Make a Deal: The Art of Mediation Advocacy" is scheduled for Feb. 24, 2027 from Noon to 1:00 P.M. Additional details and registration information will be available soon. 

 

The LSBA Young Lawyers Division will host the 2027 Richard N. Ware IV State High School Mock Trial Competition on Saturday, March 6, 2027, at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana in New Orleans. As the culmination of four regional competitions held across the state, the event showcased the exceptional talent, preparation, and professionalism of Louisiana high school students. Named in honor of the Honorable Richard N. Ware IV, the competition continues to reflect his legacy of dedication to legal education and mentorship.

The LSBA Young Lawyers Division continues to expand its podcast series throughout the year, featuring conversations with YLD leaders and showcasing the many programs, events, and opportunities available to young lawyers across Louisiana.

In one featured episode, District 1 Representatives Jennifer Lampton and Margaret Manning discussed ways to connect with fellow young lawyers, take advantage of YLD resources, and participate in the Division’s dynamic programming and events.

The LSBA Young Lawyers Division successfully hosted the 2026 Louisiana Young Lawyers Conference on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the New Orleans Marriott – Warehouse Arts District.

The event brought together young lawyers from across Louisiana for a dynamic day of CLE programming, meaningful networking opportunities, and a celebratory luncheon featuring the YLD Awards Ceremony. Attendees participated in insightful discussions, strengthened professional connections, and celebrated the outstanding achievements of their peers.

The conference was a tremendous success, reflecting the Young Lawyers Division’s ongoing commitment to supporting, connecting, and elevating the next generation of legal professionals.
