2019 LSBA Criminal Justice Summit

The first Louisiana Criminal Justice Summit was convened by the LSBA's Criminal Justice Committee to help address the ongoing challenges faced by those working in Louisiana's criminal justice system. This year the Committee will host the 7th Annual Summit, focused on Mental Health and the Criminal Justice System. 

The Summit will bring together stakeholders from all sides for highly informative and productive work sessions – the goal being to learn and discuss the interaction between mental illness and the criminal justice system as well as programs designed to best address the needs of someone experiencing a mental health crisis.

For two days, public interest advocates will come together to learn, network, and collaborate with justice community members from around the state. In addition to regular conference programming, we will distribute two Civil Legal Aid Awards to recognize colleagues who have developed innovative ways of delivering legal services and provided exemplary service to those most in need.

As always, the Louisiana State Bar Association is proud to provide the conference for civil legal aid attorneys working fulltime with a qualified program. The event is by invitation only. To be eligible to attend the LA Justice Community Conference free-of-charge, you must
be employed full-time by a qualified civil legal aid provider (see list here)

In addition to the regularly scheduled program, the conference will also offer the CINC pre-conference (by invitation only) on Thursday, October 10, 2019.
