EDLA to Host POWER Act CLE on Sept. 24
The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana will present its 2026 POWER Act program, “Helping Survivors of Domestic Violence,” from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24. Attorneys may attend in person at 500 Poydras St., Room C-352, New Orleans, or participate via Zoom. Pre-registration is requested.
The panel will explore the medical and legal challenges facing survivors of domestic and family violence, the importance of legal advocacy and opportunities for attorneys to provide pro bono services. Panelists include Mary Glass, Sexual Assault Kit Initiative Division chief with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office; Heidi Martin, forensic clinical supervisor at University Medical Center; Jordan Pedalino, sexual assault specialist with the New Orleans Health Department; and Elizabeth Heron, felony domestic violence advocate.
