LSBA Names Old Republic as New Endorsed Malpractice Insurance Provider Enhanced coverage and new benefits for Louisiana lawyers begin January 2026. After a year-long review process, the LSBA has selected Old Republic Lawyers Specialty Insurance (ORLSI) as the Association’s endorsed provider of lawyer’s malpractice insurance, partnering with Gilsbar to manage and administer the program. The change marks a major enhancement to the LSBA Insurance Program, which now offers more flexible pricing, additional premium credits, and stronger risk management benefits designed to reward careful, claims-free practice. The decision followed an extensive review by the LSBA Insurance Committee, chaired by Kevin C. O’Bryon, which solicited and evaluated proposals from multiple carriers. LSBA President Edward J. Walters, Jr. said the committee’s work was instrumental in identifying the best fit for Louisiana lawyers. “The Committee has spent countless hours over the past year to solicit and review bids and meet with potential carriers on what they could offer LSBA members,” Walters said. “I’m deeply grateful for their dedication and diligence on this important project and thrilled that we can now offer such an exceptional product to our members.” Under the new partnership, LSBA members will see several improvements to their professional liability coverage, including: Opportunities for a claims-free deductible Additional deductible discounts for eligible policyholders Premium credits for standalone cyber liability policies Increased risk management credits Revised pricing criteria that offer more flexible rates for firms of all sizes Together, these enhancements aim to make malpractice coverage more affordable and comprehensive for Louisiana practitioners. LSBA members currently insured through the program will receive notice of the updated coverage beginning with January 2026 policy effective dates. Attorneys interested in joining the program will also have access to quotes for the enhanced, LSBA-endorsed policy starting in January. For the LSBA, the move underscores its continued commitment to supporting the business and professional needs of its members. “This partnership represents the best of what our Association can do, leveraging relationships and expertise to bring tangible value to our members,” Walters said.
