Suit Up for the Future High School Summer Legal Institute and Intern Program


The 2026 Suit Up session program will be held June 8, 2026 - June 26, 2026.


All applicants will be notified by May 11, 2026, regarding the status of their application.

Welcome to the Suit Up online application process!


Program structure:

Suit Up for the Future is a three-week legal institute, during which students attend an abridged law school session, tour law schools, courts, and agencies, and participate in an internship consisting of job shadowing at area law offices, and courts, and agencies.

Students are responsible for their own transportation to the Louisiana Bar Center as well as to employer job shadowing locations. They are also responsible for any housing needed during the time of the program. The program covers meals, and transportation to and from the various tours.

Housing:

Housing is available for students located outside of the Greater New Orleans area. Accommodations will be at Loyola University New Orleans. Students 17 years old and younger must be accompanied by a chaperone.

  •  Double Occupancy: $150/week per person

  • 4-Bedroom Apartment: $240/week per person
ADDITIONAL FEES
  •  Linen Kit: $20 flat rate per person

Eligibility:
Students should have an interest in pursuing a legal career and should be entering the 11th or 12th Grade in the Fall of 2026 or entering their first year of college in the Fall of 2026. Students must commit to attend all three weeks of the program. Students that have applied previously and were not accepted are encouraged to apply again.
 
Selection Criteria:

All applications must be completed through this online application process. Each completed application must include
  • an unofficial copy of the transcript from the school where the student is enrolled.   The third quarter transcript should be provided to the Louisiana State Bar Association. 
  •  a letter of recommendation. The recommendation should not be submitted by a relative. 

These documents must be submitted by the application deadline to diversity@lsba.org. 

These documents must be submitted via email. There is no way to upload the documents to the application portal. It is the responsibility of the student to follow up to ensure this information is received by our office by the application deadline.

Once you begin the online application, you must complete it. You may not save it and return to it. If you are not prepared to complete the application, simply come back to this link when you are ready. Upon completing the application, you will be able to view and print the submitted information.

All fields marked with an asterisk (*) denotes that a response is required to move forward with completion of the application. If you do not have a response for an area of the application, please indicate n/a (not applicable) and move on to the next field. 

In addition to completing basic information about yourself, your family and your school, you will also be requested to:

  • submit the name of the individual who will write a letter of recommendation for you; and
  • submit a 500-word (or less) essay.
