Mandatory Continuing Legal Education

The Committee on Mandatory Continuing Legal Education was created by the Louisiana Supreme Court to administer a compliance program designed to foster attorney competence, ethical and professional behavior through education.

Important Information

The MCLE Compliance Deadline Is December 31st.
This year’s Preliminary transcripts are being mailed to all attorneys with a compliance deadline of December 31, 2018 and a final reporting deadline of January 31, 2019. Please check your records to be sure you are compliant.

If you qualify for an exemption, now is the time to claim it.

We have again listed the disaster exemption for any attorney whose home or office has been damaged as a result of a natural disaster, such as a hurricane, flood, fire, etc.

If you are experiencing undue hardship, you should contact the MCLE Director, Mindi Hunter, about your situation. An attorney experiencing serious medical or other issues can qualify for a waiver or some degree of relevant assistance to help reach the compliance requirement for the year.

Attorney delinquent fees can now be paid online.

For security purposes, attorneys must use the same identification and password that they use to log into their attorney trust accounts. If you have not previously used this portal, you will still need to create your own user identification HERE first. Only then can you access the MCLE Payment Portal. MCLE will only collect debit and credit card payments through the online portal. We do not process or receive card data by phone or in the office.
