Topics include a discussion on various AI tools and how to effectively use them in your legal practice; how to spot the more sophisticated scam inquiries for legal representation, work, or advice made possible by AI using real-life examples while reviewing an attorney's ethical duties surrounding such inquiries; and recent holdings from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and other courts regarding the changing responsibilities of attorneys when using AI.

Cancellation of registration must be received in writing by the LSBA no later than April 18. Cancellations will receive a full refund, less a $25 administrative charge. Absolutely no refunds will be made after April 18.


CLE CREDITS:  A maximum of 3.25 hours of CLE credits, including 1 hour of ethics, 1 hour of professionalism, and 1 hour of LPM, is approved!

Survey of AI Rules in the Fifth Circuit: What Practitioner Need to Know
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit has appellate jurisdiction over nine U.S. District Courts across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Each of those district courts has multiple U.S. District Judges and U.S. Magistrate Judges who have to address how attorneys may, or may not, use AI in their courtrooms. A focused on a survey of how judges have addressed AI in their courtrooms and what lawyers who practice in the Fifth Circuit need to be prepared to do or not do, as they move deeper into the more technologically heavy practice of law, will be presented. Speakers will address how some state courts and bar organizations have addressed AI as well.
