Advanced Appellate Practice

Co-Sponsored by the Civil Law and Litigation Section - SECTION MEMBERS RECEIVE DISCOUNT!

Sheraton New Orleans Hotel
500 Canal St. • New Orleans

Practitioners are increasingly aware of the unique challenges and opportunities in the realm of appellate advocacy. Join seminar chairs JUDGE SYLVIA COOKS and THOMAS FLANAGAN, twelve (12) sitting appellate judges, and several leaders of the appellate bar for an in-depth, practical examination of  appellate practice in Louisiana. Through a series of panel discussions, esteemed judges from the Louisiana First, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Circuits--and the U.S. Fifth Circuit-- will discuss what works (and what doesn’t work) in the areas of writ practice, issue formulation, brief-writing, and oral argument. Along the way, the panelists will explore recent developments in appellate jurisdiction, preserving alleged error, standards of review, rehearing applications, and a host of other topics.
