Deadlines, Requirements & Transcript Reminder: MCLE Compliance Deadline is Dec. 31, 2025

The deadline for earning mandatory continuing legal education credits is Dec. 31, 2025. The deadline for filing those credits or an exemption is Jan. 31, 2026.

Louisiana attorneys must earn 12.5 total hours, including one hour of ethics and one hour of professionalism, based on a 60-minute credit hour calculation. Newly admitted attorneys should review the specific requirements of Rule XX, Rule 3(b). For the 2025 compliance period ending Dec. 31, 2025, the limitation for computer- based CLE credits is set at 4 hours annually (as defined in Rule 3(d) of LASC Rule XXX). This includes interactive live webcasts, webinars and on-demand recordings.

Louisiana State Bar Association members may review their transcripts online at the weblink below. Members are encouraged to check their records throughout the year to keep track of their compliance needs. Compliance deadline email reminders will be sent periodically throughout the calendar year from the email address, compliance@lsbamembership.com.
Members who choose to take a course that is not already approved for Louisiana credit should confirm that the sponsor can verify attendance. There is no guarantee that a course will be approved for Louisiana MCLE credit.

Attorneys who are experiencing undue hardship should email MCLE Director Mindi Hunter, mindi.hunter@lsba.org, about mitigating circumstances. An attorney experiencing serious medical or other issues may qualify for a waiver or some degree of relevant assistance to help reach the compliance requirement for the year. Members who believe they may qualify for an exemption or hardship exception may also complete the online exemption form and email it to mcle@lsba.org as soon as possible.
