LIFT Accepting Applications for New Disaster Title Clearing Project Until April 22, 2022

LIFT has partnered with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services to offer two attorneys the opportunity to build solo law firms that will increase legal representation to people impacted by Hurricane Ida in Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. John, and St. Charles parishes. 

Attorneys in the Disaster Title Clearing Project will learn how to handle successions, heirship property, clear title, and other property-related matters that affect disaster victims. 
The participants will gain hands-on legal experience through pro bono work, and receive mentorship, free resources, and a $7,500 stipend during the 12-month program beginning in June 2022. Learn more about the program here.

LIFT Accepting Applications for Domestic Violence Project until January 14, 2022

The LIFT Legal Incubator Program is now accepting applications from new attorneys interested developing public interest solo practices while providing pro bono services to victims of domestic violence. Two Attorneys Join LIFT Legal Incubator Flood Proof Program in Baton Rouge


The LSBA Access to Justice program is excited to welcome two new attorneys to the LIFT Incubator program, the Flood Proof Project, in Baton Rouge. Shawn “Pepper” Roussel and LaKendra Sampson are solo practitioners dedicated to increasing access to legal services for people affected by the 2016 catastrophic flooding in Baton Rouge. Learn more about our new participating attorneys and the program under Association Actions in the April/May Bar Journal.

LIFT launches new collaborative incubator project in Baton Rouge

The LSBA’s Legal Incubator Program, LIFT, is now accepting applications for a new collaborative project called the Flood Proof Project in Baton Rouge. The purpose of the Project is to increase access to civil legal help for low-income disaster victims to resolve heir property problems and home ownership disputes in the wake of Louisiana’s catastrophic flooding in August 2016.
