The LSBA’s, Access to Justice staff conducts and coordinates legal education events in various areas of law relevant to attorneys and staff of public interest law firms. Our calendar includes offerings various task forces, legal service programs and partnership organizations. Information on previous events is italicized.
Upcoming Training Events
Library training session at Westside Regional Library in Rapides ParishThe Louisiana State Bar Association, Law Library of Louisiana, and LSU Law Library held a training for public librarians in central Louisiana. Hosted by the Westside Regional Library in Rapides Parish, the training provided librarians with resources to address library patrons seeking legal information. The training included practical tips for clarifying legal questions (without providing legal advice); guides to reliable and free online legal resources; a summary of where patrons can best access state law and federal law; and an overview of local and statewide services where low-income patrons can find additional assistance. Local pro bono and legal aid organizations were participated to provide brief overviews of their services. These trainings are part of LEAP, the Bar’s “Legal Education and Assistance Program.”
