Legal Education Assistance Program (LEAP)

Lawyers in Libraries Week:

For the past 13 years, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Library Association, the State Library of Louisiana, the Law Library of Louisiana, and local libraries have hosted “Lawyers in Libraries” events during National Celebrate Pro Bono Week. This year's events will be held October 26 - 31, 2026. During this week, LSBA members and libraries across Louisiana came together to provide free, limited services to the public in-person and virtually.  Check out the Governor's  Proclamation declaring it Pro Bono Week in Louisiana from 2025 here.

There are mnways to volunteer during Pro Bono week. Meet library patrons in person or by phone for brief legal consultations, sign up as an on-call backup volunteer, or assist at a wills clinic (happening in limited areas). Prefer a virtual format? Present a monthly Zoom webinar on a legal topic of your choice. You can also respond to civil legal questions online at LA.FreeLegalAnswers.org on your own schedule, any time of year.
